Anitra Ash-Shakoor
Anitra Ash-Shakoor is the Managing Attorney of Consumer and Bankruptcy Law with the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. In this role, she plans, administers, and oversees several D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center projects that deliver pro bono legal information, advice, and representation to low-income individuals in the District of Columbia, including the Consumer Law Resource Center, the Bankruptcy Clinic, and the Advice and Referral Clinic.
Prior to joining the Pro Bono Center, Anitra was a Partner at Capital Justice Attorneys, LLP, a private consumer law and a bankruptcy practice in the District of Columbia. She is also the former Chair of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia’s Access to Justice Committee, that serves consumers of modest means with legal assistance. She was awarded the 2021 Service Award from the BADC in recognition of these efforts and continues to serve on its board.
Anitra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Morgan State University and a Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and New York.
