Emma Cook

Emma Cook is the Senior Program Specialist for the Advocacy & Justice Clinic at the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. In this role, she conducts intake for clinic clients and coordinates their placement with pro bono attorneys. She also develops internal processes, administers surveys to gather data on client and volunteer attorney experiences, and contributes to several special projects. In addition to her work with the Advocacy & Justice Clinic, Emma helps administer probono.net/dc and LawHelp.org/DC.

Prior to joining the Pro Bono Center, Emma worked as a paralegal at Rosen, Bien, Galvan & Grunfeld, a law firm in San Francisco. While there, she worked on civil class action litigation on behalf of people with mental health needs incarcerated in California’s prisons and jails. Her work focused on improving mental health treatment, advocating for reforms to the disciplinary system, and ending correctional staff abuse of people with disabilities.

Emma holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Johns Hopkins University.
